Welcome to the Glacier Nordic Club Website!

We are about to wrap up our season, folks. And boy was it great! The snow conditions were mostly in our favor, and when they weren’t, our grooming crew’s meticulous attention to the trails gave us all-winter-long skiing joy.

Big Mountain Grooming Update
We will continue to groom Big Mountain through Sunday the 23rd. Hooray!! Conditions are super fine up there. Get in your last blast of the ski season.

Golf Course Grooming Update
We’ve discontinued grooming the golf course.

Thank you for supporting our club this season through our potluck, ski team participation, and membership and day pass purchases. Thank you, too, for commenting on our blog and joining us on Facebook. We enjoy the camaraderie.

Our next event is the Big Mountain Trail Run. It will be held at some time in August–plenty of time for you to swap out your ski legs for your run legs :). More later on that.

For now, bask in memories of Nordic dreams come true. We’ll be talking to you later.

Sincerely,

Glacier Nordic Club

I would think you could ride the ski bus from Whitefish and ski at the Big Mountain Nordic trails that leave from the downhill ski parking lot.

Katie, I do it all the time. I get off at the Base Lodge then walk about five minutes through the Willow lots. Take a look at our Big Mountain Nordic Trail Map. Let me know if you have any questions.

Have you ever skied the Big Mountain Nordic Trails? They have steep descents, then steep climbs back to the trail head. If you haven’t skied those trails before, take caution!

My wife and I are looking to Amtrak to whitefish in February to cross country ski. What would be the closest accommodation to be able to enjoy the town and ski without a car rental?

Hi Tom, thanks for the inquiry!

Grouse Mountain Lodge is your best bet. It is located adjacent to the Whitefish Lake Golf Course, which is also the location of our groomed trails. You can practically ski right out the door of the Lodge. Here is a Whitefish Lake Golf Course trail map, which shows the location of Grouse Mountain Lodge.

The Nordic Center and trailhead is located across the street from the Lodge. If needed, you can rent skis at the Nordic Center and arrange for a ski lesson. Daily trail passes are $8.

Glacier Nordic Club grooms the trails. Trail passes support grooming costs.

Glacier Cyclery & Nordic runs The Nordic Center. You can contact The Center at (406) 862-9498. It is open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

Let us know if you have any more questions. Safe travels!
